Cross-Country Skiing
Camp Creek and Jackman Flats both offer some great cross-country skiing and both are groomed on a semi-regular basis (for grooming updates call Barb Janzen 250.566.9811).
Camp Creek
Camp creek has a good variety of skiing options and is generally the first area to have sufficient snow due to its location at the northerly base of Canoe Mountain. Camp creek is located 11 km south of Valemount on the east side of highway 5. The access road is 2.5 km and is ploughed on a low priority basis. The area has a picnic shelter, warming cabin and pit toilets.
Jackman Flats
Jackman flats has a large sign in the parking area showing the various ski loops, which vary in length from 1.4 km to 6.2 km. Jackman flats is located 13 km north of Valemount on the west side of highway 5 and the parking lot is regularly ploughed.

Skating on the Cranberry Marsh
Enjoy spectacular blue skies and crisp mountain air, surrounded by three breathtaking mountain ranges while you skate on the frozen waters of Cranberry Marsh. Depending on ice conditions and snow levels, there are several channelsto skate through. An oval and a pond hockey rink will be groomed for use each season, if the condition of the ice allows. Always procede with caution. How to get there: From Highway 5, follow 17th Avenue to McKirdy Road, turn right on McKirdy Road, and look for a parking area on the right side. Access the skating area from the parking lot.
