About The Village
Planning a Rocky Mountain vacation? Valemount is the ideal place to start. Nestled into a valley created by awe-inspiring mountains, the Village of Valemount has earned its reputation as a year-round playground for travellers to British Columbia (BC).
Three mountain ranges – the Cariboo, the Monashee and the Rocky Mountains – surround the village and offer hundreds of exciting and inspiring activities.
The first settlers came around the early 1900s, and the area was named in the 1920s. Subsequent growth was tied to the railroad and to forestry for decades. Valemount has since transformed itself from a logging town to a lodging town – there are more than 500 hotel rooms ready for visitors who appreciate the wide variety of outdoor adventures this Rocky Mountain destination has to offer.
We are proud to be the home of Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, and a short drive from Jasper National Park.
This friendly spot on Yellowhead Highway 5 is home to a little more than 1,000 people, several gas/petrol stations, charming diners and restaurants, outdoor guides and attractions, and even one golf course!
Whether your idea of adventure is white knuckles and whitewater rafting or golfing on greens surrounded by breathtaking scenery, you’ll find a vacation to remember in Valemount.
