Lake Fishing
Bring your boat or cast off the shore, and enjoy experience fishing amidst the spectacular mountain scenery of Valemount and the surrounding area.
Lasalle Lakes
West Lake: access of Highway 16 approximately 3 km east of Crescent Spur turnoff. Canoes recommended. Brook Trout up to five pounds.
East Lake: access of Highway 16, south side of Highway, approximately 5 km east of Crescent Spur turnoff. Blazed footpath, small to medium size Rainbows, limits often caught.
Cedarside Lake Regional Park
The 18.5 ha park is located around Little Cranberry Lake. The lake has been restored to the original water level and is being restocked with Brook Trout. The park includes picnic areas, outhouses and a beach area.
Kinbasket Lake
The reservoir extends south from Valemount to Golden. Access along the Canoe Forest Road and West Lake Road. Boat launch on the Canoe Forest Road approximately 24 km from Valemount. Good catches of Rainbow Trout, Bull Trout and Whitefish at creek mouths.—Caution: Floating logs, dead heads and unpredictable winds.
Yellowhead (Lucerne)
LakeAccess off Highway 16 in the east end of Mount Robson Park, 7 km west of the Jasper National Park boundary. Pan sized Rainbow Trout, Rocky Mountain Whitefish and Lake Char. Fishing best in the spring after high water. Parks Branch campsite and boat launch, with picnic site on the lake. Winter ice fishing good for Ling Cod.
Moose Lake
Along Highway 16, in Mount Robson Park, with boat launch at east end of lake. No accommodations, except campsite at Lucerne Lake approximately a 15-minute drive east.Lake Char, Rainbow Trout, Kokanee, Bull Trout, Whitefish and Ling Cod available. Lake Char fishing as ice goes out and again in late summer after high water subsides. Kokanee caught at Thunder Falls on south side of lake in September. Ice fishing fair, be aware of ice conditions.
